I only love those things because I love to see them break.

I’ve never really cared about artificial intelligence, and it’s occasionally been treated as an issue for my career. For years, whenever I’ve told people that I’ve never used Chat GPT, I’ve been met with expressions of pitying concern. Everyone recites the same refrain to me, as though they’ve been briefed on it in some seminar that the entire world attended and that I somehow missed: “You really shouldn’t use it, but you should know how it works. It’s not going to replace writers, but the writers who know how to use it are going to be the ones who get hired over the ones who don’t.”
